Old gravel beds have a way of looking tired fast. The rock shifts, weeds push through, and after a few seasons it just looks worn out. That's exactly what we were working with here - a large front bed covered in faded gravel that was doing nothing for the home's curb appeal.

We pulled the old gravel and replaced it with a full layer of fresh dark mulch across the entire bed. The difference is night and day. Dark mulch does something gravel simply can't - it creates contrast. It makes the green plants pop, it frames the home, and it gives the whole front yard a clean, finished look.

Beyond looks, mulch is genuinely better for your plants. It holds moisture in the soil, keeps roots insulated, and breaks down over time to improve the ground beneath it. Gravel does none of that. So swapping it out isn't just a cosmetic win - it's actually better for whatever is growing in that bed.

We also made sure the bed edges were clean and sharp before laying anything down. A crisp edge between the mulch and the lawn is what separates a good-looking yard from a great-looking one. That detail matters more than most people realize.

If your beds are still full of old gravel or just looking rough heading into the warmer months, a fresh layer of mulch is one of the simplest ways to clean things up quickly. We'd be glad to help get yours looking sharp.
